Black History Teaching Program
Know Your Story, Know Your Power
Sharpen your eyes, tune your ears. So you know what you see, understand what you hear. Minute by minute, hour by hour, as we know our story, we know our power.
From Enslavement to Resistance
Do you want others to dictate your opinion or figure it out yourself? Constant outside influence prevents you from deciding what is right or wrong.
Reconstruction
The feeling of the nation must be quickened. The conscience of the nation must be roused. The propriety of the nation must be startled. The hypocrisy of the nation must be exposed.
Reflections on Courage and Community
The Great Migration represents a journey of hope and resilience, seeking dignity, opportunity, and justice paving the way for greater equality.

Greetings
St. John’s Baptist Church, Woburn, Massachusetts will host four (4) sessions as they launch the Black History Teaching Program. The BHTP will strive to:
- Appreciate, value and share many accomplishments of Black people and others from the African Diaspora
- Connect and afford the opportunity to strengthen cross generational ties and communication essential to future success, legacy building and reverence to our ancestors
“Knowledge is POWER” and education is the essential passport required to negotiate life’s journeys. Being educated provides us the understanding to first know whose we are and then deepen our understanding about who we are as Black people. George Washington Carver, a great Black inventor said “Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”
Sessions will be held on the following Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm: February 24, 2024, April 20, 2024, June 22, 2024 and September 28, 2024.
Blessings
